"Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been spouting increasingly fascist ideas for months, but in an interview published today by Yahoo he crossed what must be some kind of rubicon toward actual Nazism and not just the implication of it. When asked by Yahoo whether he'd track Muslims in the US by "registering [them] in a database or giving them a form of special identification that noted their religion," Trump didn't rule those obviously insane ideas out. "We're going to have to we're going to have to look at a lot of things very closely," Trump told Yahoo. "We're going to have to look at the mosques. We're going to have to look very, very carefully.*

The last time in history when such a sick idea was implemented, they used a yellow six-pointed star sewn to outer clothing. We all know how that turned out.

(40,416 posts)This is the world that the GOP wants. One only has to listen to what they all say when they speak at their cloistered conferences, that thankfully is reported via the INet.
The GOP is a theocratic party, pure and simple. One only has to listen to what so many of them say. "This is a Christian nation." That is a sufficient pronouncement of what their agenda is.
The recent reactions to what happened in Paris only underlines what is going on politically in the USA. And we bow to it at our collective peril.
