If TPTB are going to manipulate the election to their favor, it is only logical to assume that they would start well before the election with things like designer polls inflating your candidate-to-be's numbers above the opponent so post-election they can point to all the polls as proof.

I'm not saying this is a fact, but I'd be lying if I said i don't believe they would attempt it. As we all know they've already successfully stolen the general election in 2000 due in large part to EVM's with no paper trail. Would they use this capability in the primaries to ensure their candidate prevails over a peoples advocate? Probably.
