(3,544 posts)This was in 2011. So what has been done to protect the vote since then?

(13,382 posts)The testimony seems to be from 2004 in front of the House Judiciary Committee. The story seems to have fizzled. Nobody seemed to be able to soundly confirm or refute his claims.
Kind of interesting to see what was written back then about this: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/12/13/79643/-

(11,197 posts)a printout of the votes you cast. Considering that a gas pump, a postage vending machine, an ATM can ALL give a receipt of your transaction, you have to ask yourself, is the lack of the same capability on EVM's a Design Flaw, or a Design Feature?

(11,197 posts)the reality you're seeing in the real world? Like the ones proclaiming Hillary at 80% and Bernie at 16% even though all you're seeing is Bernie bumper stickers and yard signs on your daily commute
No, you're not going crazy. If TPTB are going to manipulate the election to their favor, it is only logical to assume that they would start well before the election with things like designer polls inflating your candidate-to-be's numbers above the opponent so post-election they can point to all the polls as proof.
I'm not saying this is a fact, but I'd be lying if I said i don't believe they would attempt it. As we all know they've already successfully stolen the general election in 2000 due in large part to EVM's with no paper trail. Would they use this capability in the primaries to ensure their candidate prevails over a peoples advocate? Probably.

Bravo for him for listening to his internal voice and speaking out!
The machine-ness part I have no problem with, if only they were verifiable.
Hand counting billions of paper ballots seems to be, also, fraught with manipulation possibilities.
If I may be 'classist' for a moment, I also wonder about those in our midst who are employed (in one way or another) making weaponry.
How can they sleep at night?
I know we must have guards at the gate, but..........here we are with the guards far afield, patrolling the periphery of 'the compound'.

No doubt the Repukkkians would never rig an election...
