that has been so typical of the Obama presidency. An approach that is long on rhetoric and short on action.

Bringing up ideologies - is a red herring that distracts from the real issue of availability of firearms.

It's also a distraction to blame inaction on Congress....Obama holds the most powerful office in the country let alone the planet.

The hand writing was on the wall after Sandy Hook and nothing was done.

While closing the loophole allowing terrorists on no-fly lists to purchase arms, more needs to be done. He has the power and he also has the mandate.

Tell me just exactly what the executive branch can do? Executive order authority is VERY limited, and he HAS taken some executive order action. Whether you like it or not, we have THREE, count them, THREE branches of government. And, um, guess what? The CONGRESS is the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH of government. THEY MAKE LAWS, NOT THE PRESIDENT.

Hear that? So please, become informed and THEN comment.

I've 100% support the President but he (and MANY other elected democrats) has not called out the republicans enough. As Cenk Uygar puts it the democrats bow there heads to republicans often and when they do stick up to them they soon apologize and cower in a corner begging the republicans not to hit them.

You actually want people on the Terrorist Watch List to be able to buy assault rifles and ammunition? Seriously?

Well, then: Let the slaughters at the shopping malls begin!

And the poster has been perfectly polite (more so than me, in fact: I resorted to sarcasm) in advancing his opinion.

The fact that one can make the argument he's making--that the right to arms is sacrosanct--is strong evidence, to my mind, that the 2nd Amendment needs to be amended. Unfortunately, one of the flaws of our constitution is that it is too difficult to make an amendment.

I marvel at his ability to be so calm and rational in the face of such callous stupidity.
