(13,870 posts)Trump has brought his reality TV show to the US Presidential election. People like her have been saying crazy shit about Presidents for generations, it's just how some people are. Now, it's become a source of entertainment to amuse the populace. I'm not optimistic about our future.

(1,192 posts)It's not that there are extreme nut cases (those kinds of people exist in every society), but that this segment of population is emboldened, encouraged, and normalized by the media.
In a normal, functioning media environment, we should be seeing headlines about issues that Bernie is talking about -you know, the things that actually matter. Instead, we're supposed to pay attention to these people. Trump should have been dismissed by the media long time ago when he started birtherism. But then, media has been treating those kinds of people (i.e., vast majority of contemporary republicans) as if they are normal political figures.
