(325 posts)Sam's interview is a great one here. There's real meat, even though it's kind of lengthy, well worth the time.

(57,936 posts)I have been trying to explain this economic concept on DU at various times, but Nick Hanauer explains it so that it is easy to understand.
"Gardens of Democracy" is his book.
I hate to say this, but it appears to me that, if he values democracy, Mr. Hanauer is way out of touch with the truly very rich.
The real goal of the very, very rich is to position themselves so that they have extreme power, can wield that power over their servants and employees and can enjoy their villas, wherever they may be.
Oh, and I forgot. The truly rich love to pose as philanthropists -- another way to demonstrate their personal power.
Nevertheless, Mr. Hanauer is right about the real economy.
