Stephen Colbert giving it to Bush to his face (2006)

The White House Correspondents Association dinner.

Apparently the people who booked it didn't realize Colbert's act was a characature of themselves. I remember some shit flying after this.

Truth to power with the evil subject of your talk, holding the most powerful office on the planet, sitting two seats down from you.

It was one of the few hopeful moments of the entire GW Bush DARK AGES.

Stephen is brilliant and gutsy. BIG TIME!!!

how Dubya is lolling back on his spine like some kind of pampered Caesar, while others at his table sit up with a modicum of respect for the speaker.

After watching this, sorta' wish Colbert had stayed in his prior show through the 2016 elections. There's not enough of "him" in the new show.

closer to the the real election. And I'm sure he's already thinking up a more subtle and subversive way to go about it.

Quick off-topic question on your username - does that mean there's a l.o.o.s.e.e-1 somwhere?

there was a film of this with nothing but audience shots and their reactions. I've watched this so many times over the years (just for dose of schadenfreude), and every time I see something I'd missed the first 10 times. I wish there was a camera on Harry Reid the whole time!
