California Is Not For Sale

The “California Is Not For Sale” campaign has generated a ballot proposal that would require state lawmakers to wear the logos of their top 10 political donors when advocating for policies on the Senate and Assembly floor. San Diego entrepreneur John Cox is attempting to shine light on the “dark money” that began flooding political campaigns after the 2010 US supreme Court ruling allowed corporate and private donations into political campaigns. Mr. Cox said he wants to “call attention to a problem” namely that “our elected leaders are controlled by their funders.” Nik Zecevic and Margaret J. Howell further discuss Mr. Cox’s proposal as well as the need for campaign finance reform in the US on The Lip News.
