(9,353 posts)It is an interesting compilation of the thoughts of illiterate hermits living in a desert as interpreted by other men living sometime later.
Mythology always fascinated me.

(17,920 posts)who grew up fundigelical in the South, yes, Genesis to Revelation more than a few times. My problem was I asked too many questions and never received what I considered logical, well thought out answers. "God works is mysterious ways" or "his ways are not our ways, so we cannot understand them" doesn't cut it. Actually reading, comprehending and thinking about the scriptures has deconverted more Christians than anything else.

(141 posts)so God has to weed out the atheists? he doesn't know which ones they are? You're God is pretty lame if he has to trick the atheists into giving themselves away......*facepalm*.
The stupidity of believers never fails to amaze me.

And this agnostic has to agree with him, the bible is a big part of my not caring if there is or is not a god. But mainly I see no use in worshiping a god that would let the majority of us live the life he supposedly has chosen for us. He certainly doesn't seem to be able to defeat evil or even battle it to a standstill.
If there is a heaven I hope all the various gods are lined up offering us incentives to enter their particular version. I'm leaning towards the Roman, Greek, or Viking gods they according to legends seem to offer more entertainment value.

I'm starting to suspect we may have an under-cover-Atheist or something like that.
Shit! Now we have to start over.

(21,768 posts)Raised in a Southern Baptist home, I have read the Bible many times. I was not coerced, I was truly looking for answers and wisdom. And guess what: I found it.
However, it had nothing to do with what I was being taught in church, or by guys like this tool.
