that worked for the promoters of Iraq war. Wall to wall TV commentary of the evils of Saddam Hussein, how he used mustard gas to kill him own people, military expert after military expert from liberal to conservative channels preaching the advantages and unsubstantiated connections to OBL and still the tee vee luving Americans rejected it. Only the better message with enough money behind it will sell and I am not a Californian or a Tobacco company dupe but I vote against every sin tax in the book and there's no amount of advertising campaign(except of course for direct bribing- everyone has a price ) spending in this world to get me to change my stance on it.

The next battle I predict will an attempt to pit social security recipient against younger worker and if the democrats do not shape up, this will be another battle we are going to lose especially if this economy continues the way its going.

But its the message stupid, I know a lot of people are not going to like this but most people are hurting(economically) and when given a chance to lighten their load(taxes) while increase the load of the public sector unions, they will do so. They indeed voted albeit in the short term for their interest. This has very little to do with money because the message won out in WI not the money, I will argue that Walker over spent in this elections because if you believe CNN exit polls, only 3% made up their minds after may 1.

The solution is to adopt and push hard on those game changing policies that receive widespread support from both parties. Really ending the middle east wars coupled with real cuts in defense spending, legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana, support for drug importation bill or bill to shorten the length of drug patents(aka making drugs cheaper without enriching the drug companies), a public option type healthcare system that would give the repubs a chance to opt out and most importantly STOP SUPPORTING BANK BAILOUTS they are very unpopular even more than the Iraq war.

Change your message and show that you really care for the little guy on the street just as much as you care about killing Al Qaeda members and then and maybe just then you can defeat big money. But who am I kidding, the democratic establishment will do nothing close to what I suggested, instead it will go crawling back to the corporate master to offer up what goodies it has left in exchange for a few million in campaign donations
