It's hard to watch, hard to take -- but I believe this kind of thing will mean electoral death for conservatives over time. It is indefensible and un-American behavior to most people, and the stain will never wash off. It will become evidence for generations that conservatism stands for outright thuggery, nothing more. Which it does.

I'm reminded of Abbie Hoffman's tactic of passing out baggies full of cow's blood, instructing operatives to find a police officer and a television camera before breaking the bag over their own head.

Most people do not respect violence. This kind of thing is slow death for a political party. Ammonition Bundy is not going to win the debate for good reason.
