Senator Bernie Sanders had a tremendous Easter weekend his second in a row. After sweeping all three contests this past weekend, Sanders has certainly proven that not only does his campaign have the momentum it needs heading into the remaining races, but the campaign has enormous staying power. Theres still a lot of ground to cover, however.
Ring of Fires Farron Cousins discusses this with Richard Eskow, host of The Zero Hour and a writer for the Sanders campaign.

(108,980 posts)caucuses are.
Or how few African Americans live in the states Bernie just won, including Washington.
He's only had one win in a large, diverse state -- his 2% win in Michigan -- but he'll have to have some huge wins in states with large African American populations if he's going to win the nomination. How do you think he will manage that?

(5,668 posts)HI and AK are not white. caucuses gauge how much enthusiasm there is and less voter problems exist with them compared to like AZ's primary.

(108,980 posts)Pennsylvania, and California do, and so do many other upcoming states.
Caucuses have just as many problems with long lines as AZ. We had to stand outside for an hour, hundreds of us at my caucus, before they let us in.
And besides making voting a long ordeal, whose vote do caucuses completely suppress?
In my state, any mother who has children and doesn't have a babysitter.
Anyone who lives hours away from their caucus site and would have to give up a whole day to driving there and back and attending the event -- if they owned a car.
Any college student who lives out of state.
Anyone who has another reason for not being able to attend for that window of time ,but whose reason isn't on their very short list of acceptable excuses.
Voter suppression is built into the caucus system. If you're going to complain about voter suppression in Arizona because of decisions made by the Republicans who control voting there, then you should also be complaining about the voter suppression Democrat leaders engage in in caucus states -- routinely.
