(1,555 posts)He and now Neil deGrasse Tyson are two of my heroes. They are such amazing torch bearers for the scientific community. Their ability to take such complex ideas and concepts and break them down into more easily understandable pieces is/was so influential.
As an educator I can only hope to one day have their charisma and low-key approach to such gigantic concepts.
Carl Sagan is awesome!
We are lucky that he was so influential on so many, unfortunately perhaps not enough, of us that we do have a strong scientific mindset in this country. We need to wrestle it back from the evangelicals who are taking us backward to the stone-age.
Thank you for sharing this. My day is already starting off right, er correct.

(12,882 posts)the first time I'd heard him talk about how religion and science were at odds. This helped me to realize that I really did have a "faith". I had a faith in science. Indeed, we really aren't alone - those of us with the power of objective perception. Thanks Carl.

He left us too early.
Oh, how I miss him.
He is my favorite human being. His ability to think and then put into words for us to unserstand
was amazing.
Still missing you Carl!!!!
