(581 posts)The GOP has never presented to any court where voter fraud has taken place. But the Judges always seem to rule for them. Is that because the GOP controls the courts, like McConnell is now trying to do.

(14,575 posts)IMO, most voters do in fact understand.
The understand very well, in fact.
I would say only about 20% or so don't understand, the mushy "middle types" who are either really dense or seriously not paying attention.
IMO, both democrats and republicans fully understand.
The problem is that while democrats hair stands on end over it, repubilcans are just fine with it.
So, we really only have about 35% or so of the country that both sees what republicans are doing and really care about it.

(14,575 posts)I am not sure how it has turned out in other states, but in Pa you had the same thing, where several republican ass hats flat stated that voter ID was going to help them win elections.
It didn't matter because the state is so gerrymandered beyond any reason that the Rs, who again are just fine about it, keep putting their asshat republicans back into office - we have an absurd ration of congressment 13 Rs and 6 Ds for a state that is at worst a toss up.
That said ... THANKFULLY, our courts threw their voter ID bill out. But, again, instead of these assholes being punished in the ballot box, this state just slept through the whole thing.

(16,940 posts)Pennsylvania's got a House Majority Leader that helped pass a voter ID law, then said, "This will allow Romney to win Pennsylvania."

If I haven't said that Republicans are fuckers, lately - Republicans are fuckers.

"In 2009, the Obama Justice Department requested that Judge Fuller sentence Siegelman to 20 more years in prison when his appeals are finished"

We know Bush/Cheney lied us into war
We know lots of things, but nothing every happens over them.
That's the problem.
So what are we going to do about the voter suppression?
Re-elect Republicans so they can do more?

(8,974 posts)Letting the truth of intention slip out, when they had lied earlier about "preventing rampant voter fraud". The same slip of the tongue happened in PA a few years back in '12, as the GOP was delirious that voter suppression would carry the state for them in the general election, but it didn't quite turn out that way. Keep those sound bytes a-comin'!

(363 posts)President Obama could send in troops to protect the right to vote. There is no right to stop an american citizen from voting. Arrest those who prevent american citizens from voting on violation of the voters civil rights. Also treason should apply here too!

Oh, wait. Millions of people who are pretty put off by her are going to suddenly get butterflies in their stomachs for Hillary.:eyesroll:
Our country is like a childish school and these two are running for student counsel President.
People vote for who they like for often the lamest of reasons but they do vote for who they like in most cases.

(14,575 posts)I gave up on the romantic notion of the wisdom of the voters after the 2010 bloodbath.
NO reason, NONE to give Rs any power after they ran the country into the ground, and in all our wisdom we not only gave them power of both chambers, we did it by electing the most insane rat fucking jackasses they Rs could get on to ballots.
I am voting Bernie, but have said repeatedly all along he was a longshot to win the nomination because of what you posted.
People are people, and they are dumbasses (generally) before, during and after they walk into a voting booth.

(5,240 posts)The Democrats are notorious for putting bland unlikable candidates up who lack the ability to inspire.
Obama is proof that when the Democrats put a person on the ticket that inspires then we win.
Nobody including Bill Clinton(If eligible) could have beat Obama in 08.
