if he said 7 versus 9, prolly best to leave it and not drag 9/11 into a joke

His mouth is moving with almost no connection to his brain. Let alone his heart and his gut. And that is worth noting, but not funny…

Or in this case, Ground Zero.

For the record, I worked at "the pile" (as we referred to the place where the towers once stood) for three weeks after the incident. And I'm paying a price for it now with health issues, but no regrets. Yes, we did occasionally engage in gallows humor, but never at the expense of those who perished or lost loved ones there.
Shrub and Rudy G.? Yeah, we did have a few laughs at their expense.

One day, in the not-too-distant future, I'll return to the site. But not while Drumpf, Rudy or others pander on the memories of that awful part of our history.

Not ready yet.

He has my sympathy, it is a horrible thing to begin losing one's mind. Albeit, at first it can be entertaining to others who lack empathy.

My local 7-Eleven is in a section of town my friends and I call "Mordor." Robberies, drug deals, etc. in the parking lot at all hours of the night. It's also the go-to place to plan the murder of your friend for snitching on your drug deals (true story).

Has anyone seen The Waldo Moment episode of the UK show Black Mirror? It's about a joke candidate, an animated cartoon dog, who runs for office against the corrupt establishment politicians. He loses and basically throws the election to the conservative candidate, but in the meantime the character's popularity grows beyond the ability of his creator to control it and becomes the figurehead of a fascist movement. It was made in 2013. Some details are different, but it's incredibly prescient.
