Bernie Sanders' campaign is outspending former New York senator Hillary Clinton over New York's airwaves by a 2-to-1 margin. The date is from ad-spending data firm SMG Delta.
The Sanders campaign has spent $5.6 million on ads in the Empire State, versus $2.8 million for the Clinton campaign. The Republican side has seen significantly less spending: John Kasich's campaign and Super PAC have spent $480,000 over the airwaves, while Ted Cruz and his groups have doled out $467,000. Donald Trump has spent just $67,000 on ads in the state.

Didn't get a very good return on investment, did he? Maybe Bern's campaign needs a shake-up...

(15,369 posts)and a handshake from the Pope, Bernie was unable to win his birth state. Definitely not a good ROI by any measure.
Whoever counseled stepping up the negativity ought to be canned, IMO! Their own actions, including throwing dollars at Hillary, have come home to roost. Once goodwill is lost, it is very difficult to regain and sometimes never can be.
Btw, can you imagine the reactions of SBS supporters if Hillary had lost Illinois and Arkansas?

(14,565 posts)It still has some impact with older voters, which is still key to elections.
But,
1) With DVR, people increasingly "tape" TV and simply fast forward through commercials.
2) Music increasingly is moving away from traditional radio formats.

(6,974 posts)Hillary did just fine without it, capturing the Empire state over Bernie Sanders who outspent her by a 2-1 clip. It appears that Hillary's supporters also were more enthusiastic about HER as she garnered over 1 million votes.
Hillary Clinton: 57.9
Bernie Sanders: 42.1

You should pray that Trump gets that nomination--he's the only one she leads.

(6,974 posts)Cruz nor Kasich have really been vetted in-depth.
Cruz has some extremely bizarre thoughts on many things, abortion being one big thing where he's totally out of touch with the American public, and we KNOW that he's one of those who REALLY wanted to close the government down and even to the point of relishing that, and we know the public disagreed with the GOP on that. He also constantly wants to scrap Obamacare while at the same time replace it with NOTHING. He's an obstructionist from head to toe.
Kasich is more of an adult for sure of the remaining GOP presidential hopefuls, and he did implement Obamacare in his home state of Ohio, but when you scrutinize HIS record there, he's not as "nice" nor charitable as one might think, and you know he really stepped in it concerning shaming rape victims and he's also against family planning as well. What is it that GOP males don't WANT to understand about rape, abortion or about family planning? Women ARE cognizant and aware of their thoughts about how they seem not to CARE about women or about woman's rights. Women have shown that they'd be supportive of and vote for either Dem nominee running for President.
I have NO doubt that once either one of them have been scrutinized and once their true feelings and thoughts not only about abortion etc. are exposed, their unfavorable numbers would surely go up, and when you think about it, Cruz has some very unfavorable numbers now. No one is really paying attention to Kasich to be honest. Kasich is NO moderate. He's extreme just like the rest of the GOP field. He's just "nicer" an has better manners than Cruz & Trump.
