(86,647 posts)there will be many more tributes for some time to come. Purple rain now brings me to tears every time I hear it...

(12,655 posts)i thought i could handle it....he closed with pr and it was pouring and he was soaked and didn't care and he was bringing it, very emotional and stunning performance...he looked choked up at one point.
needless to say, i completely lost it.

(86,647 posts)saw it last Friday, and I waited a few hours to go there. I have been watching a lot of videos about Prince since Thursday. He didn't want his work online but since this weekend, there are thousands of videos of him now on youtube... and I am thankful for them.
And I watched the SNL tribute last night, the skits were okay but the music segments were awesome, of course.

(12,655 posts)for some reason that is most powerful performance of his i can watch at this point. he just put himself all out on that stage, raw emotions and all. i have the audio from the last concert in atlanta queued up but i cannot yet bring myself to listen. i heard he is quite introspective and emotional. and since it is so close to his death, i just...can't. the older stuff doesn't bother me as much becsuse he was almost a different person then.
glad his stuff is getting out there. also waiting on the snl video...i have to be very careful right now what i see. this hit me like a freight train and i was not expecting it.

(86,647 posts)but I wanted to learn more about him and I never got to see the performance since I don't do teevee. I will be okay after some grieving time. As a musician, Prince meant a lot to me... since he first hit the scene... even if I don't have a collection of his music. Being transient much of my life, material things have a way of not staying in my possession for very long.

(12,655 posts)hopefully online so that you can access it. i have mixed feelings about that since prince fought so hard for his ownership rights and hated stuff over the internet. but i like to think that under the circumstances, he would want as many people as possible to be able to listen to him, especially the later introspective and spiritual works where he really gets into some deep stuff.
after my superbowl meltdown i decided i am not ready to watch him or even listen yet. it will take as long as it takes, but i know his material will be there when i am ready. its just too fresh still.
