As you can see, white people do not know how to care for black hair. My wife is black and I'd always pointing this out to me. It's true, the poor kids hair looks like it does in the picture all of the time. The first lesson my wife taught me when we were dating is DO NOT EVER GET WATER ON A BLACK WOMAN's HAIR, EVER! You could be killed!

All not exactly kidding aside, being in a mixed race relationship in the South is hard. This couple is learning just how bad rasicim really is. I hear from white people about how they are tired of hearing/seeing the "race card" played. That is because they are not on the receiving end of it and don't see it that often. White people have no clue how often it comes up for real in black people's life. They may not be actively racists so they don't think it could be as bad or as much as claimed. Well rasicim happens a lot because real racists are proud of their rasicim and commit acts of it frequently.

I am sure they love their daughter and are starting to get the understanding of how hard it will be for the child they love when she starts going to school. They get the looks out in public every day I am sure. My wife and I get it when we go out. When me and my daughter go out and she says "Dad" in front of others you ought to see the looks we get before they regain control over their expressions. For most people it is something you would have to experience yourself to understand it completely!

Hope they start taking her to a black beauty shop for her hair soon!

It's a hassle raising gay kids in some towns.

You can't genetically tell if a child will be gay or straight, or right or left handed. You can tell if a child will be black, if the father is black. Most parents pick a sperm donor that will look like them. Red headed parents usually pick a red headed donor.

But once it is possible, there will be mistakes. No technology is 100%. And even if they were, mistakes are made.

Red headed parents usually pick a red headed donor.

With the hope of getting a red headed kid, which may or may not turn out to actually be the case.

In the end, even folks who use sperm banks are only playing the odds, just like the rest of us.

Folks have been having kids for a long, long time.

Hopefully, we've gained the maturity to understand that there are no guarantees when it comes to parenthood.

A better technology for folks who really do want that level of certainty is cloning. That way, your kid will be an identical twin.

Of course, even then, there will still be mistakes. You might get the wrong clone.

They have every right to sue if they got the wrong sperm donor, just as a black couple could sue if they got a white donor.

And, yes a red headed couple knows that they are not guaranteed a red headed child, but the odds decrease substantially if their donor has dark hair or olive skin.

Believe it or not, some people would be just as happy with a gay child as a straight child. Every child has problems to overcome except for a very few. Bullying is one of them. By the time we can pick gay or straight, society should be more acceptable to differences.

If they raise the child with full disclosure, non-judgement, love, acceptance and fully embrace their beautiful child for who she is, as she is. Plus, raise the child loving herself. This could turn out amazing, in a positive way.

..... what these parents have had thrust upon them.

They are now raising a young black man in a society where cops routinely beat, choke and shoot young black men.

I have some white friends who fostered and adopted an African American child who is now 5 years old. It's obvious from my friends' Facebook posts what is on their minds and the concerns they have for their child growing up here in Chicago.

I also have African American friends raising their own non-adopted children. It's obvious from their Facebook posts what keeps them up at night.

My friends are raising African American kids in a city where the cops blasted Sweet Home Alabama out of their police cruisers during a BLM march.

I'm a gay man. 20 years ago my friends and I would have discussions about if we could take a pill and turn straight would we. The answer was usually no. Fast forward 20 years and ask would we want to raise straight or gay kids in today's society - with one of the major political parties talking about reversing hard won gay rights as part of their platform? That's another story.

The people in the op paid a lot of money for a service. By negligence, they got a whole lot more than they bargained for.

How much should the jury award to mitigate costs?

How much does it cost to move to Mars? Because that's where I want to go if we elect Ted Cruz or Donald Trump.
