In a general election he would lose by a larger margin than HRC. He didn't even have the guts to to what she did yesterday. Nope, he had another rally at a safe place. She went out and took a bashing to her face from people that weren't her cheerleaders. Now that is the quality of a leader. Bernie took the safe way and ignored the issues that the average person of WV is facing. Just like the way he portrays minorities of the South, he brushed those people away.

Kinda stupid to write off the (still) largest voting bloc for the General Election.

- Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders Greets Crowds after Rally in Huntington, WV, Home of MARSHALL UNIVERSITY -

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ), April 26 -- Thousands packed the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington on Tuesday night to hear Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. During his one-hour speech, Sanders shared his talking points with the energetic crowd. "We are going to create an economy that protects the needs of our workers, our children, our seniors, our veterans -- all of the people of this country and not just the one (wealthiest) percent," Sanders said.
At one point the crowd chanted a variation of the "We are Marshall" cheer, replacing "Marshal" with "feeling the Bern."

Applause broke out when he talked about how he wants to implement free tuition at public colleges and universal healthcare. Sanders also talked about wanting to transform the energy system in America. Sanders talked about how he wants to change the energy system in America and is opposed to fossil fuels because of climate change. It's a position that's not popular in coal mining communities in West Virginia, but Sanders says they won't leave those who lose their jobs behind.
"We have a moral obligation to make certain that those people who may lose their jobs get new jobs," Sanders said.

Among those gathered was Suzanne Strait, who said Sanders has a different vision than the other candidates.
“I think he can do a lot, because a lot has been going on here has not been working and getting worse,” Strait said. “So we have to, as he says, think outside the box and try some of these new ideas he has to get people back to work.”
Sanders said in states with a high voter turnout, he wins.

West Virginian Native JEFF KESSLER on UNIONS!

"Republicans and Budget Catastrophes Like Peas and Carrots", CHRISTOPHER J. REGAN, Charleston Gazette, Nov. 17,15.
Republicans have been crowing about the record number of state legislatures they control lately. The right wing has full control of the statehouses in some 31 states, including West Virginia. Some commentators say this is A PERMANENT SHIFT TOWARD REPUBLICAN CONTROL OF AMERICA, while GOP flacks just brag about it.
But they do a whole lot less bragging about how it is going in those states for working people. The reality on the ground is that state after state that allowed full control by Republicans saw budget catastrophes swiftly follow.
Many states that fell under the magical thinking of right wing economics are so deeply in debt that they can no longer fund basic services, let alone make the investments necessary to compete in the 21st century. Take a Look around GOP-controlled America, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Kansas, *West Virginia." More:http://www.wvgazettemail.com/article/20151117/GZ04/151119580/1455

Vice Chair, WV Dem. Party CHRIS REGAN'S LETTER ENDORSING *BERNIE SANDERS FOR PRESIDENT, Excerpt:
"The middle class is America’s heart and soul. The concerns of middle-class families, including health care, tuition, and a rising wage for honest work must be our focus in 2016, not just here in West Virginia, but across the country. We cannot afford leadership corrupted by corporate money any longer. I endorse Bernie Sanders’ message, his values, and his unparalleled commitment to taking our country back from the billionaire class. I endorse Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America.", Jan. 30, 2015.

- Winning West Virginia—JFK's Primary Campaign -

~ "I would not be where I now am, I would not have some of the responsibilities which I now bear, if it had not been for the people of West Virginia." President John F. Kennedy, June 20, 1963 ~

Religious bigotry was one of John F. Kennedy’s greatest adversaries in the 1960 Presidential primary campaign. In West Virginia, he confronted the issue head-on and defeated it. In early April, JFK arrived in West Virginia, a rural state with a struggling economy, to discover that a strong lead in a state poll tracked four months earlier had evaporated. He now trailed his opponent, Senator Hubert Humphrey, by 20 points. The explanation came from Kennedy’s advisors: “No one in West Virginia knew you were a Catholic in December. Now they know.” Yet just four weeks later, the people of West Virginia handed him a stunning victory that he credited with securing the Democratic nomination for President. Sweeping a state in which Catholics comprised barely 5 percent of the population, Senator Kennedy proved that a Catholic candidate could win votes.

JFK’s campaign in West Virginia was all-out. He traveled up and down the state—meeting thousands of voters, listening to their stories and speaking at large events and small gatherings. He shone a national spotlight on their plight and detailed a plan for economic recovery. He commended their strength in the face of adversity. He affirmed the separation of church and state. And on May 10, 1960, the people of an economically distressed, overwhelmingly Protestant, hardscrabble state in Appalachia put their trust in the elegant, young Catholic senator, who spoke in a Boston accent about a brighter future. He won their votes, and they won his heart.
The people of West Virginia—their kindness and fairness, their grit and determination and patriotism—made their mark on this young candidate and helped to shape the President he would become.
