Pics: Protective orangutan fights off wild pig with a STICK as it closes in on baby

This mother orangutan took up arms against an intruding wild pig after the hog got a little too close for comfort in the Bornean jungle.

The maternal ape grabbed a stick from the ground and angrily shook it in the face of the startled pig who bid a hasty retreat after the irate orangutan began throwing branches at it.

The exchange was captured by Russian photographer Julia Sundukova while she visited Borneo earlier this year.

Ms Sundukova, 37, said: 'This mother was brave enough to show the wild pig that she was ready to hurt them if it meant protecting her baby - I found that very touching.
