(9,600 posts)I was just hanging out with some older friends. They believe in Donald Trump. There is no changing their minds. All five of them believe he can save the United States with his nonsense that he is a strong leader. They follow him just like they followed Bush.

(15,882 posts)in grade school. By the time they get to high school they are almost perfect consumers. Not all, but more than enough to control the choices of the rest without bloodshed.
We now have tens of millions of people for whom "thinking", actually putting some effort into the good and bad parts of an idea, digging into it, is simply no longer part of the concepts in their head. They expect everything to be spoon fed to them, with no mistakes, and for which they take no responsibility. We no longer build on what we knew, we try to trade on it as it dries up and loses value. It's not an age thing - they run the gamut from young to old.
He offers the least painful choice, the one that blames every problem on something or someone else, no cost to you, guaranteed results.
If he wasn't such an offensive and inept creature, he could do much better. It has been proven before, you can spew a bunch of hate, pick up some folks, and then moderate and pick up more, so if he learns quickly - and he does - he may well wind up being crowned pres.
Then parents can hope their babies grow up to be real estate swindlers who use their wealth to betray their country, like him.
