(2,574 posts)At the time of this disaster, EPA had approved 12 other oil retardants some with 10-20 times less toxicity and almost 100% more effectiveness. Why Corexit? NALCO's a spin off of Exxon and owned by Goldman Sachs, Apollo and Blackstone, with largest shareholder Warren Buffet. NALCO's shares soared.

(2,067 posts)And when will the politicians ever make good on their promises to move us to a clean energy economy? And when will they finally do so in a humane way in which human lives really matter?
If there's a media blackout, then all these sick and dying Correxit victims need to muster up every last ounce of strength they have left and do a mass march on Washington!
Yep - the TPP would put this kind of stuff on steroids, and multinational corporations would walk all over the American people with impunity. There would be no more need for pitiful, sellout apologies like the one made by that senator whats his name, because the American people and their government would have totally surrendered their sovereignty to the corporation's right to make a profit and cut corners and trample on whoever and whatever necessary to do so. Disasters like the Deepwater Horizon would become so commonplace that they would happen about every week, and there would be a total media blackout because these terrible disasters would hardly raise an eyebrow any more.
