I don't think THAT claim is in dispute -- even though it may be somewhat Euro-centric. I'm sure he is rather well-known in Europe, but we all know and can see it here, lots of Americans are not that well informed and may not even have heard of Assange yet.

You and I may find this incredible, but there are indications that some visitors of this board only know about Assange through slanderous allegations and don't know what he actually does.

not turning himself in to the Swedish government because he wanted a guarantee not to extradite him to the US should the US government request it as the Swedish government couldnt grant such a thing due to its extradition treaty with the US.

In that case, he owes Sweden nothing. If he's really guilty of a real crime, then shame on him.

given the way his case was handled.

And, while he will remain a staple in the US American news diet, I guess it's fair to assume that his presence there will remain purely virtual, until the revolution arrives

I can't see Ecuador continuing to host that guy for free, either--wouldn't be surprised if Putin IS paying his rent.

He was on Bill Maher last night--sounded, for all intents and purposes, like a Putin stooge...and got called on it, too.
