I did know that is what they thought of us "little folk," but puh-leez.
I'm not the one trashing the nation's economy, refusing to support our infrastructure, and screwing up the environment.
Somehow I think I'm smarter than she is because I can see past my nose to realize that obscene greed is not a supportable way of life for anyone.

(3,596 posts)(1) Education - Mittens keeps saying you get the education you can afford. Based on that, only the very wealthy or those lucky enough to get a scholarship can afford to get an advanced education. That is a death spiral for any country.
(2) Don't understand how things work - well that is exactly the issue. The way things work now is that if you are rich you pay low taxes but are allowed to screw your employees, etc. If you are lower income you pay more in taxes, get low salary, get no health insurance (screw the ACA) and work excessive hours.
Screw this woman and the coffin she rode in on.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]You'd think with all her income and education, she'd be able to confine herself to speaking grammatically in just one person (2nd or 3rd, not both) for at least a whole sentence.
I'll bet all her bodily functions work just the same as those of less educated/lower income people, and she'll still have to leave all her loot behind when she croaks (which she most certainly will).
Just what is it that makes her so special, again?

(69,014 posts)God made her rich because He loves her. He doesn't love the rest of us, obviously.
But don't you love the aristocratic use of "common"???

(13,141 posts)I too don't get it.
He, She, and It don't get it either.
Mere common pronouns, We.
silverweb
(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]And I embrace the word "common" in ways that would never occur to "special" folk like her:
common courtesy
common sense
common humanity
common experience
Commonwealth
"the Commons"
etc, etc, etc....
"The specials" like to set themselves above and apart, but they're tightly bound to this common (shared) Earth we all inhabit in all the common (ordinary) ways every person, every flower, and every bug is.
The only thing that really differentiates people is their greatness or meanness of spirit and, as we've all heard, "In the end, only kindness matters." Lots of "the specials" don't understand that and never will.

(5 posts)With the assassination of A. Lincoln, the Republican Party became the party of the rich industrial elite of this country. They are not in necessarily in aristocrats, because money, not birthright is the requirement for entry. That is why there are so many low class trashy ignorant people with money in the Republican Party. Nitwit Romney is the second generation from Jack Mormons who deserted the United States for Mexico so they could have harems. The nicey-nice name is multiple marriage, but in reality is no different from some goat herd in the middle east. The sole intent and purpose of the Republican inner cabal is to destroy the all power which should reside in the people of the other income groups. Contrary to you statement you anonymous white trash attendee, I do get it, I do understand your agenda and judge it as reprehensible.

(10,751 posts)They really believe they are our betters.
They are affronted that us common folk direct anger at them.
They think we're jealous of them.
Jealous? Ha! I do not in any way aspire to be like this pretentious, ignorant person.
I am ashamed to share the designation of "human" with her.
Keep it up, folks. You'll just keep making us angrier.
And for the rest of us common folk, remember: Anger is a gift.

Full paragraphs from that article:
***
"It's not helping the economy to pit the people who are the engine of the economy against the people who rely on that engine," Michael Zambrelli said as the couple waited in their SUV for clearance into the Creeks shortly after the candidate's motorcade flew by and entered the pine-tree lined estate. "He's basically been biting the hand that fed him in '08. ... I would bet 25% of the people here were supporters of Obama in '08. And they're here now."
Mr. Zambrelli, you have a misconception as to what the engine is. You're not the engine, you're one of the people who rely on it.

(10,751 posts)...and again, there you have it: their chagrin when they realize that their nanny actually has the right to vote.
Oh, the horror!
Of course they're trying to take that away too. They really don't get it: take away the sense of active participation in the system, and people will drop out of it entirely. When people don't have a stake in it, they have no reason to try and preserve it. Yet their filthy riches are predicated on maintaining the system.
$75K to meet Romney and have his ear for a few minutes. That's what she's talking about here -- that's "how it works", and that's what we should understand and aspire to if we want to be more like "our betters".
Oh well, history is full of examples of the high and mighty being brought down. It is inevitable when the system becomes too unfair, too hard on the masses -- the "common people". We're getting there.
So far the elites have been quite successful at getting us to fight with one another and leave them alone. But people are becoming aware of how corrupt the system is.
What is needed now is for us common people to see our common interests and pursue them together as a united force. That is the trick, isn't it? Unfortunately, history is also full of populist movements that are mean-spirited and divisive, and revolutions that devolve into anarchy or worse.
Here's hoping we are able to devise new and better systems. The ones we have now are rotten to the core, and are due to collapse under their own weight. When that happens, no one is safe.

(10,303 posts)That Romney donor has nailed it on the head. The common people aren't getting it and a fair chunk of common people are going to vote for Mr. Romney... if the common people "got it", Mr. Romney would have zero chance of getting elected.
However this commoner has something to say to everyone - This November, if you were a turkey, would you vote for Thanksgiving? A vote for Romney is the same as a turkey voting for Thanksgiving - you get your backside cooked, and some rich guy reaps all the rewards.

(20,453 posts)A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. "I don't think the common person is getting it," she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. "Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them.
"We've got the message," she added. "But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies -- everybody who's got the right to vote -- they don't understand what's going on. I just think if you're lower income -- one, you're not as educated, two, they don't understand how it works, they don't understand how the systems work, they don't understand the impact."
To which, I once again think of a favorite credo.... "I'm not afraid so much of ignorance as the illusion of knowledge".
She truly believes she is a woman of knowledge... quite an amazing illusion.

The only reason this viper is a Romney fan--is because Romeny is her Santa Claus. He wants to give her more tax cuts and other assorted gifts. In order to justify her greed and vapid, selfish ways--she asserts that we just don't get it.
No honey. You don't get it. Cutting taxes doesn't help the economy. It doesn't help the vast majority of the people in this country. George Bush cut taxes on the wealthy and many corporations, such as GE, don't pay any corporate taxes. Look at the economy sweetie. How's that working for us?
It's not working at all. But that doesn't matter to you.
You want more money. You're all about yourself. And those who don't share your greedy, vile attitudes are just commoners who don't get it. You're the one deluding yourself. You're the one who doesn't understand basic economics and how the world really works. So think, before you whine and pontificate out the window of that Range Rover, because you sound like an oaf.
All you understand is what you want. You make up "facts" to support your greedy, superficial life and, according to you--those who want billionaires and millionaires to pay their fair share are "uneducated."
And I've got news for you pumpkin. It's not just the "college students" and the "nail ladies" who don't share your boorish views. It's also accountants, lawyers, nurses, business owners, carpenters, teachers, entrepreneurs, IT professionals--moms and dads and people who actually work for a living. Myself--I'm a science writer and a PR consultant to high-tech companies. I make a decent living and I even drive a Range Rover. Guess what? I wouldn't even dream of being as obnoxious, ridiculous and ignorant as you. You are a cartoonish representation of everything that is wrong with America. But go on...and drone on and on about how much the vast majority of America just can't possibly comprehend how the world really works.
It must be so tough being YOU--always the smartest person in the room with the greatest insight. Must be tough "getting it" like you do, while you're driven around--frustrated with the 99 percent of American who just can't understand why you need more, more,
more!
Oh those commoners! They are just so thankless and simple!
This woman encapsulates perfectly what Romney is about! She needs to do a "Joe The Plumber" style tour and really get her message out, front and center. The more (and the louder) this freak talks--the more the truth comes about about Romney and his supporters.
MrMickeysMom
(20,453 posts)That was so good.
Although it hit the nail on the head, I'm still so bothered by this ... pumpkin who doesn't know one human being with a mind from another. Not if one human being does your nails and another one installs your granite top counters.
What must a person like this SEE? How can I resist the temptation to strangle the living SHIT out of her??!!!!!!!

Step right up and bring Jamie Dimon with you.
You're right, I don't get it. Bankers practice fraud and market financial instruments backed by nothing I can see, supported with money printed by the Fed just for this purpose. The world economy collapses because of you schmucks and none of you lose your job, your wealth or even worry about doing a stretch in pokey.
You're right, I don't get it.
