... is pure, unadulterated bullshit! Even if they themselves did not directly engage in the kind of rhetoric we now hear from the alt. right, establishment Republican politicians and pundits, in failing for the past 20 years or more to speak out strongly against such rhetoric coming from some of their fellow partisans, tacitly encouraged and approved of it, because they wanted to exploit the electoral support of extremists.
