Published on Aug 31, 2016
On August 31, 2016, early in the morning hours, Dale "Happy" American Horse Jr. chained himself to a large backhoe to prevent digging for the Dakota Access Pipeline next to Highway 6, 14 miles north of the Cannonball River. Happy ended up chained to the backhoe for six hours as law enforcement attempted to remove him. Songs, prayers, chanting, and the burning of sage and attempting to persuade law enforcement to join the protestors for the sake of their children lasted throughout. Approximately ten people total were arrested during this action. #NODAPL #WATERISLIFE
