And worse, blaming the VICTIM -- that's the ugliest part of your thesis, frankly.

Skinner's post in this thread explains exactly what happened, his "advocacy" was for Clinton, by explaining exactly to viewers of his show what a Trumphumper would say.

It irritates the hell out of me when someone does the right thing, and still gets gigged for it by someone who purports to be on their same side.

Surprize, Surprize--Chris Matthews is a MODERATE, Tip O'Neill/Jack Kennedy Democrat. He is an OLD MAN who came up in the sixties. He favors that STRONG AND WISE DEFENSE paradigm that used to be a hallmark of the Dem platform, before the right wing chickenhawks took it from us and we didn't immediately push back. He's not going to be everything for and to people to his left.

And the reason that no one tries to paint Rachel as a rightie is because, besides her left of center POV, she is a LESBIAN. Right wingers are unkind (if not vicious and violent) to the LGBTQ community, they don't generally use them as poster boys/girls and they know that the vast majority of them--even the moderate and (hen's teeth) conservative gays--want nothing to do with the likes of Trump.

So that argument is just absurd on its face.

Again--stop blaming the victim of the crime. It's not what we do. I'm not "talking down" to you either--I'm just telling you about your very own comments and you are mad because you know I am right on the mark.

CNN, MSNBC used to be much better but they've slipped with the rest of the mainstream news into a bigger focus on entertainment via the news rather than journalism.

I think Joe Scarborough is pretty light upstairs too.

Even Rachel, who I really liked, has gone down a few pegs.

I've canceled my cable. I can't watch cable news any more. I pick up clips and streams here and there but in good conscience, cannot reward these people with a dime of my money (though it started with disgust of FOX news for me ...).

This is the lowest and worst the media has been in my lifetime. It's a dangerous thing as the Trump candidacy proves.

I still keep tabs on mainstream news but I've spread my internet wings to the CBC or BBC or other places for news where some better elements of journalism, social conscience and objectivity still exist.

I am sick and tire of us being so naive. This is the 2nd high level figure that has done this and each time they do, the right takes it out of context as if the person giving the "What Trump should say if he were serious" speech is now an ardent supporter. Yes, Chris Matthews, this is what Trump should say. Trump could easily win this election if he focused on things like this. But he doesn't because he is a 70 year old, sociopathic man child who cares more about racism, misogamy, xenophobia and hate than running a campaign. That is exactly what disqualifies him, he focuses on anything but policy. Trump is too busy showing us who he really is so don't go off and create the speech that will win him the election on his behalf so that we can watch it instead of what Trump believes.

This is the link of Chris Matthews giving his segment on "What Trump should say":

OP's clip leaves out a lot of what Matthews said.

Snopes.com, quoted below:

CLAIM: MSNBC host Chris Matthews endorsed Donald Trump during a segment on the show "Hardball."

X FALSE

http://www.snopes.com/chris-matthews-endorses-trump/

The video was taken from a "Hardball" segment that aired on 27 October 2016. Matthews was not endorsing Donald Trump in that segment; instead, he was arguing that Trump was not making an effective case against Hillary Clinton. In fact, Matthews specifically stated toward the end of the clip that he was not saying he wanted Trump to win the presidency — rather, he didn't understand why Trump was focusing on petty fights when he could be spending his time talking about substantive issues:

If Trump were to win this election, those would be the reasons that would be written at the top of the newspaper the day afterward. So why doesn't he do it. Why doesn't he say now what will win him the election. Why does he fight and make stupid headlines with his battles with Megyn Kelly and Dana Bash. He seems to devote every day fighting fights that make people forget the reasons why he started running for president. Reasons that continue to carry the shrinking chance that he may win this thing. I say this not because I want Trump to win but because I can't stand politics being practiced so pathetically.

This isn't the first time that Trump supporters have deceptively edited a video to make it appear as if a "liberal" figure had endorsed Donald Trump. In October 2016, a clip from Michael Moore's documentary em>TrumpLand, which the filmmaker has described as a "love letter to Hillary Clinton," was edited to make it seem as if Moore had endorsed Trump.

He's been sounding pretty hateful toward Hillary Clinton every chance he got since the primaries.

State Senator Jamie Raskin beat Kathleen Matthews who came in third in the primaries with 24 pct of the vote.

State Senator Jamie Raskin is the Democratic nominee for the seat vacated by Chris van Hollen who is running for the Senate Seat being vacated by a retiring U.S. Senator Mikulski.
