1. If I die from an attack on American soil, let it be because we tried to stop it and couldn't.

Instead of we died because we were too stupid and flatfooted to recognize there was a danger and we didn't know what to do about it.

How does Nye humiliate Trump in this video? I watched it and all I heard him talk about was how both sides are in a bubble and how people take a long time to respond to data.

... which undoubtedly the other guests like E.J. Dionne established previously.

tRump is like a cult.

Nye makes an excellent point about how people double-down on their beliefs when pushed with facts that contradict them.

In my experience you have to confront them in such a way that it "stops their world". One time I was undercover on a right wing site that had a discussion against evolution, I was able to catch a few people off-guard when I said something like "the US Navy uses evolution" because they use genetic algorithms in some of their computer systems.

You have to confront people like tRump cult members with a kind of trap, in a way. Like get them to agree they support one of his policies and that they support getting rid of the deficit and then make them come to the realization that the policy will blow up the deficit or the economy, without you explicitly stating it. You have to set up a logical chain of reasoning, perhaps with something like an Obama policy that they don't like and then take them through the same chain on Trump, kind of sneaking up on them.

In its simplest form, like someone suggested in another thread, when they regurgitate some fake news, say to them "It's a lie and you're smart enough to know that". They will never admit they aren't smart, so they are kind of trapped.

And bashing astrology? really? So a certain republican president's wife believes in astrology, the worst thing they can do is reschedule a meeting on a "better day." If a president doesn't believe in climate change, we're all f*cked.
