(37,648 posts)He called out Trump lies and bizarre behavior during the campaign. He was very outspoken. They stopped having Trump on the show at some point, but I don't remember if it was Trump's or Joe's decision.
He changed his tune after the election, seems to me. Giving Trump more deference, since he was now President. But that didn't last, when Trump's behavior became more bizarre and the lies bigger.
I think a lot of people thought Trump would become Presidential, and assumed that the campaign behavior was an act. Surprise!

(43,890 posts)Readers of C&L are all too familiar with the "you've been supporters" comment during the primaries, the hot mic that showed absolute collusion on questions and campaign strategy between the Morning Joe hosts and Trump, and the off-hand "I know you talk to him regularly" slip by Reince Priebus, Trump chief of staff.
Morning Joe IS Trump TV.
And then Mika and Joe show up at Mar-a-Lago on New Year's Eve for a ...business meeting?
Who is playing whom, Joe Scarborough?

(5,106 posts)I rarely watch them and mostly catch them in clips, on line. Trump's calling into their show and being indulged for ratings, was certainly a large part of the pre/early campaign hype for His Orangeness. BUT....realizing the mistake that many "talking heads" made in indulging the ramblings of a man who they never considered seriously, even after he was nominated, should not be held against them when they realize what they've done (at least to themselves) and get real about what's happening now. OTH, we have the likes of Sean Hannity and Alex Jones ( I don't listen, but understand even Limbaugh has backed down a bit). Hannity probably wouldn't drink actually poisoned Kool Aide (still waiting for the waterboarding he promised), but his largely uneducated and fixated mind will never comprehend any enlightening events or facts.

(43,890 posts)But if you're not willing to hear when a deplorable flips and says he was wrong, because you've already thrashed or blocked that person, how will you ever get satisfaction on your demand to hear a deplorable admit that he/she was wrong?
Do you see the conundrum?

(1,474 posts)I once watched MSNBC. Still love Rachel and miss her. But their dishonest coverage of election made me quit MSNBC. All press was bad. ClusterTrump coverage was profitable and television news put profit over honest journalism. Fuck them all because the news fucked America.

(5,644 posts)I still have my 3 favorites that I watch, but when Rachel tried to convince me to watch Greta Van Susteren (I personally think that her bosses put her up to it)...I almost lost it. There's only about three of them left on MSNBC that I watch and until they change...who knows where I'll be.
