(14,174 posts)Some in here want every 'liberal' journalist to be like a Fox News one.....only for them. That is to only bash the Republicans, which is easy enough to do. Cenk dared to criticize some of Obama's actions and for that he will never be forgiven by these purists.
It doesn't matter how many of these pieces he puts out laying waste to Trump and the Republicans. He is on their ignore list now. What a petty waste.
And FYI, both Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton used to be a fan of the GOP at some point.

(47,209 posts)That kind of oversimplification of ideas is pretty ridiculous, but I think Cenk is often OTT and sensationalistic just for the hell of it. Whatever.
LiberalLovinLug
(14,174 posts)And I'm sorry if I implied you hate him. But even to say he is 'a fool' is ridiculous. Based on what? Find me some quotes that he has said that sounds foolish. I maintain the distaste for him by some is soley based on his support of Bernie in the primaries and his willingness to critique some areas of the Democratic party behavior.
You think he is OTT ? What kind of response to Trump do you want? The same passive defensive spineless reaction that the MSM puts out, or did, because they don't want to offend anyone? As far as I'm concerned we need more passion in our media at this critical time, not less. He shows a bit of arrogance sometimes. But no one is perfect.
This purity test has gone from rejecting all allies in Washington like Sanders, to rejecting all allies in the news media as well. This kind of petty puritanism must stop.

(47,209 posts)The blustering exaggerations and bolstering of all the Wikileaks crap is a big problem for me. My instinct is that it's all theater to him. I can't shake that feeling.
LiberalLovinLug
(14,174 posts)'blustering' I'll grant you. 'exaggerations'? No need for them in the Trump era. Just because they sound like exaggerations.
He didn't release the DNC emails. But once they were out, as a Bernie supporter he was naturally upset to see the different lengths DWS was prepared to step on the scales for Hillary. I don't see how you can blame him. I was angry as well. And you also have to put into context that all of us, including most all Republicans, believed that Democrats would win and it was only due diligence as a journalist, to hold feet to the fire towards the pre-ordained winner. He also went out of his way to say time and time again that of course he preferred Hillary far and away over Donald if it came down to that.
I get that some personalities just rub one the wrong way sometimes. Some Dems do not like, in no particular order...Michael Moore, Bill Maher, Glenn Greenwald, etc... But IMO, anyone that helps the Resistance I have a space for in the tent.

(47,209 posts)(And many others) over sold the email stuff. I think it was time Sanders gave up and can see why people were fustrated with him. Just like I think Brazile and he Hillary camp knew it was a given there'd be a question about the water in Detroit.
I think a lot of people learned things about "the process" last year and they jumped on corruption as a reason to explain losses and there was a lot of bullshit around that. Some of it, from people I know, was quite deliberate in order to smear Hillary.
You've actually got to participate to change things, and I think people are finallly getting that now.

(10,500 posts)Hillary got 55 percent of the vote. Bernie got 43 percent.
The DNC did not raise money for Hillary, nor did they scare donors away from Bernie. They did not organize volunteers for her, nor did they scare volunteers away from Bernie.
And listening to Bernie complain about wanting more debates sounded an awful lot like listening to Hillary complain about not having enough debates in 2008. It is a common complaint and hardly a good example of the DNC pushing hard for one candidate.
The people and the DNC who wrote about how Hillary would be the nominee were writing that after it was mathematically implausible for Bernie to win. In the very previous election we set a precedent that the PD winner would get the nomination--and the precedent was set with Hillary Clinton on the losing end.

(54 posts)The man just sent an army in money and people to Connecticut to help try and win back a seat for the Democrats and some people act like he's as bad as Trump.
It's insane.
Some people think they get to define what a "real Democrat" is...and then accuse others of applying unreasonable purity tests.
It is insane.

(704 posts)The Republican congress went "all-in" with Trump. They are tying themselves to his corruption.
They will do everything possible to protect him unless it becomes impossible. Then they will jump ships like the rats they are.
I don't think it will happen so quickly. I would not even be surprised to see them start a war to distract from it all. I believe they are that desperate. It's a dangerous situation.
