(9,512 posts)...do you think it could reach him.
he is so full of shit, twisting logic beyond recognition, a poisonous mind at work.
the reason we have the 60 vote rule is so that there is a guarantee of more general agreement on a SC nominee. if they can't get 60 votes then that nominee should be rejected. That is the "agreement." That's the whole point. Convince senators the nominee is sufficiently moderate and they will vote accordingly. that did not happen in this case, largely because the repubs overplayed their power.
IIRC the vote on scalia was nearly unanimous, though i'm not sure why so many democrats voted for him, and al gore who voted for scalia might be regretting that vote. gorsuch is simply not sufficiently moderate to please democrats AND this is in the context of the rejection of garland. The repubs want the dems to play softball while they play hardball.
and who is this "far left" hatch speaks of? he should be more specific. is it anything like the far right that ryan could not control in the house? I don't think so. and if there is a "far left" at work, shouldn't the demo acknowledge them sand represent them for a change, instead of ignoring, dismissing, and belittling them for a change

(1,989 posts)Garland, unlike Gorsuch, never got a hearing, never got to testify.
