Thom Hartmann: Police Use Brutal Force on CA Protesters

Rania Khalek, AlterNet, w/Big Picture panelists Brian Darling, Heritage Foundation & S.E. Robinson, The Blaze & Karl Frisch, Progressive Strategist all join Thom Hartmann. Over the weekend - protesters in Anaheim, California were met with a brutal show of force by that city's police officers. Is this latest episode of police brutality a sign of the over-militarization of the nation's police forces - and what can be done to stop the epidemic of excessive force?

a war zone, as did most of the Occupy attacks by the police, with the people being treated as 'enemy forces'.

To even have to ask are they 'too militarized' is ludicrous. Why do we need two militaries, one to go out and fight the american people each time they exercise their 1st Amendment rights? When did this become acceptable in this so-called democracy?

I hope that baby was not harmed by the dog, and/or the mother. What a shameful scene to see on the streets of this country. Where is Congress on these violent attacks on the American People?

At every level the cops are controlled by citizen elected governments that control the purse strings and control who is hired and fired. People should be at town hall meetings demanding a stop to out of control cops and they should be challenging the power of sheriffs were necessary.

It used to be a bragging rights of sorts during the 70's that we were not a police state. No more. We need to bring that ideal of America back and we need to disempower those who are abusing what we gave them.

They work for us. If they refuse to do their job, they should be replaced immediately.
