(24,701 posts)angle of attack at lift off did not create a stall condition, because of the entire wing design.
I love airplanes...................

(7,768 posts)It also helps that the airplanes were light at take-off and that angle of attack shot was perhaps aided by some clever, camera-angle wizardry too.
Those jet jockeys were flying these airliners as if they were formation fighter jets!
Man, whoever filmed and produced this video earned their pay! Perfection indeed.
I love airplanes too!
(your name turbinetree suggests you are a pilot?)

(24,701 posts)because of the heat build-up and the centrifugal forces being applied .

(24,701 posts)and performed aircraft maintenance problem solving skills since 1985 on every aircraft made from 1960's to 2001 and currently hold a FAA certificate for both mainframe and engine qualifications, with radar endorsement . And my all time favorite is the besides the shuttle is the B757 series aircraft.
Boeing will produce a newer 757 and it will be called the 797, after that they will have to come up with another series of numbers, or they can continue using the - (dash).
When we use to do engine runs, we had to make N1 and N2 speeds, and when those pilots lifted off they had to make V1 rotation speed, for a go or no-go take-off call out by the co-pilot.
I kept thinking of wake vortex turbulence when watching the film.
A lot of the items now found on cars came from airplanes and from space, anti-skid brakes, GPS, fuel injection, bio-fuels, for example, kevalar wings, pick-up boxes
Its always about the wing and how much aero-dynamic loads can be applied:
Stress test of the 787, there is also one for fatigue testing

(7,768 posts)Speaking of the Space Shuttle, a moment in my life I will NEVER forget was being on the freakin' FRONT LINE tarmac at Edwards AFB April 14th 1981. Heard and saw it all! All the coms were on loudspeaker, pilot says, "Big Sur never looked so good", moments later we heard the BOOMS! Then a tiny white dot appeared with her chase planes! I still choke up and get tears recalling that day and how fortunate I was to witness this event.

(3,056 posts)I was in awe just watching it on TV! I remembered being amazed at how smooth the landing was.

(7,768 posts)I remember how horrified I was (and still am) when hearing of Columbia's tragic demise upon re-entry 22 years later.

Good times!

(24,701 posts)and this is power
Maximum thrust level (in vacuum) of 512,300 pounds ... Thrust (109% Power Level) or which is equivalent to greater than 12,000,000 horsepower.
I love airplanes................

(8,692 posts)The newer the airplane the more uncomfortable it will be, last month I flew on an old 767 that still had its original 1980s interior and seats and it was wonderful. The nine-abreast seating on the 787 should be illegal.

(8,692 posts)Except they usually have roughly the same interior as a regional jet.
Major Nikon
(36,827 posts)The interior is basically the same as the one in the picture, but my seat is a bit different and has a better view.

(8,692 posts)One of my friends flies private jets and she has "seen shit" as they say, although she says that your perception of which celebrities are nice and which are just horrendous are usually correct.

(36,827 posts)I haven't been flying commercially for that long and I just do it on the side as it isn't what pays my bills. Mostly I fly for a single operator, but I have done a little contract work for others. Rich people are pretty much like everyone else. Some are incredibly nice and some are incredible assholes and there's everything in between.

(7,768 posts)As always, there's so much involved behind the scenes. The coordination has to be exact and perfect.
These technicians, pilots and photographers are just the best. True professionals who obviously love their jobs!

(8,308 posts)While traveling on a highway in Idaho I spotted 2 contrails side by side appearing to go straight up. I could tell there was a larger plane with a smaller one right next to it and they continued on, incredibly close, for as long as I could see them. When I saw this video it sure made me wonder if it was them. Way cool.
PearliePoo2
(7,768 posts)It would make sense to conduct test flights over areas that are less congested with air traffic. Perhaps Idaho is one of those areas?
hermetic
(8,308 posts)And Washington is right next door so I feel it might have been them. I've seen air shows and I was amazed to watch these 2 so close. For sure had me wondering.
