My parents went to college (and Dad to medical school) on the GI after WWII. Eight years in the military in the 50s (Korean war), and he was out and just starting to practice - when the whole family had a fit because of the LP record we got in the mail. I clearly remember backyard meetings over the Russians, cold war, and SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! I remember this record and hearing it played to the medical staff at a hospital. That same hospital was also having nursing strikes over integration (black nurses and black patients).

The MIC, big energy, and big medicine have controlled the government with sophisticated propaganda in the US for the last couple generations.

I don't doubt that the fight for universal health care is not over. I doubt I'll see it fixed in my lifetime.
