Let the rain
Wash away
All the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits
A fitting song for King Arthur!

Thank you for posting, demmiblue. It would have a big, warm reception if you also posted it in du's Pet forum.
I get very down sometimes on the human race. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, "I am disappointed in my species" and I thought, yes I am too...but this story reminds me that there are many many wonderful people in this world and how blessed this dog was and the people who helped him are. Thank you for posting this. Wonderful.

(14,176 posts)I hear the sentiment out there about how we should be concentrating on rescuing humans, on human plight above all. And animal rights groups are mocked. But this story illustrates how our relationship with other animals is a large part of what makes us human. So ignoring the plight of other animals is in a way ignoring the plight of humans as well. It reminds us of what it is to be human, and what our capacity is to help other animals. And why that is such an important part of us.
