I saw him in Tahoe pre fat days.

His daughter, 5 at the time I think, was a few tables from us.

both on his life and his place in our culture. They led me to uncover this clip, which I use anytime people trivialize him:

The ONLY reason the "good ole boys" of his neighborhood didnt lynch Elvis for being so friendly to black folk was he was Elvis.

Anybody else would have been hated and beaten by the "good ole boys"

Problem is I have a brother and his group of friends, FAR rightwing assholes, they all worship Elvis. They have NO clue who he was and yet they have every album, every movie, etc

WOW I loved that.

full disclosure, I do a pretty mean impression, the whole thing, voice, shrugs, lip

Liquor store, had to open 8 am, I had to put the papers out front like I did each morning, paper from the big City a few hundred miles away was the first one I put up, not this same paper but similar, I opened it, saw this, and sat on the floor for ten minutes, in tears.

This obviously before the internet, you got the news when you got a newspaper. Did not care for that one, that day, that newspaper.
