...came over our house. I had just enough time to crawl up on the roof and nail down the ridge vent before the winds started up again just as hard in the opposite direction. A young tree in our front yard was almost bent over by the wind in one direction and then bent over in the opposite direction. Winds were close to 100 mph where we were in a NW suburb of Houston.

And thanks for sharing that. It's always good to have anecdotes from people with actual, first-hand experience.

I lived in Mississippi for a few years in the '90s, and almost everyone over 40 or so had vivid memories of Camille (and older residents, of Audrey as well). "Biblical" is how some folks described it.

I remember visiting Galveston in '93. Signs of Alicia could still be seen along the waterfront, here and there.

Beautiful city! I think I still have a brochure from the Moody mansion - and lots of fond memories, certainly.

I trust and pray this will pass without major incident.

Thanks again!

I was just telling mbusby that while I've never gone through an experience quite like that, I've known people who have.

They always get that far-away look of disbelief in their eyes as they recount what happened - even decades later.

Prayers to the Gulf Coast!
