Democrats Introduce the Child Care for Working Families Act

Senator Patty Murray, ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) and Representative Bobby Scott (D-VA), ranking member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, introduce comprehensive child care and early learning legislation that will ensure that every child has access to high-quality early learning and care that will not break the bank for their parents. The Child Care for Working Families Act is a part of Democrats commitment to giving working families a better deal by building an economy that works for all, not just those at the top.

Not only could this bill expand access to high-quality child care for families, but it sets provider rates (that are subsidized with vouchers) at a high enough level to help ensure a living wage for all child care workers.
And it expands access to early childhood developmental services for children with special needs.

My niece is a single mother expecting a baby, and will benefit greatly from this. Her two daughters are now in first grade, but as a single mother needs affordable care for the new baby girl.

Plus, thousands of other families will be helped by this bill. Thank you, Senator Murray!

A lack of high quality and affordable childcare are two factors that can undermine school readiness and life-long learning.

I'm thrilled that our Democrats are proposing this legislation!

She would have championed #ChildCare4All instead of child care credit for the rich.
