The Anna Crusis Women's Choir: A Feminist Choir

Produced for MiND TV (www.mindtv.org) In 1975 a group of women joined together to commemorate women during the bicentennial celebration in 1976. A radio station wanted to feature a day of women's music, but there wasn't much women's music at the time, so Wine, Women, and Song was formed to create music by women. Over the years, Wine, Women, and Song became the Anna Crusis Women's Choir, which is the longest running feminist choir in the country. The choir strives for musical excellence as well as social change by focusing on music by, for, and about women and their lives, and other important social issues. They frequently perform for communities that have little access to the arts and at benefits and fundraisers to support progressive social justice organizations.
