It was good that Kimmel called out their empty words when he confronted them for their claims that they are so compassionate. You can see compassion in Kimmel but they had none, it was almost hate against a person that arrived in the US as a baby. Deplorables. I bet they believe they are such good Christians.

While Dad is deployed as a soldier? I guess someone else will take care of the baby for ten years, while Mom is "waiting her turn," in a country she last knew at two years old? And this was the "compassionate" one in the group? MAGA!

came here under dubious legality, i.e. many lied about their background, identity, etc. Trump's mother likely fits into this category, not to mention his current wife.

There were a few token PoCs on the panel.. but make no mistake, this debate is about white nationalism.. the idea that white Europeans being a superior race were entitled to steal entire continents, then act like they are the true natives who have the right to decide who comes and goes.

Both her parents were born in the U.S.A., and their families migrated to Canada. The citizenship issue must have been flexible in the early twentieth century, because my grandparents came back to the U.S. and settled in with no problems when my mom was an infant. Her citizenship was not an issue until she went to work in D.C. with my aunt, while my dad was overseas in WWII. They applied to the F.B.I for clerical positions. My aunt was hired and worked there for years (it was early days and she was actually on J. Edgar's staff). My mom, officially a Canadian, was sent to "British Security," later MI 5/6, where she did work for several years. I've always been surprised that this didn't jog her to become a U.S. citizen afterwards. She was nailed going back into Canada years later in the mid fifties (long story, but she was allowed in for a day). She was in her mid-thirties when she finally went through the citizenship process, which I remember well as a ten-year-old.

I'd marry the guy, anyway. She has a child, now. She needs to get his military benefits, if something happens to him.

Young people these days don't think about things like that, seems to me.

We didn't take Jewish refugees after WWII, I think. Not at first, anyway. Then we locked up Japanese American citizens and took their property. Very cruel. We may have ended up taking in Jewish refugees, and we ended up releasing the Japanese American citizens. But at first we did the wrong, cruel thing.

So this is in that same vein.

So the country's policy was generous toward them (it helped that they were white?). It was how the American citizens treated them that was bad. They act that way toward large groups of all immigrants, I think.

at time.

There were times when Irish passengers were not allowed to disembark and wound up going back if the ship they were on did not stop at a friendlier American or Canadian port.

And there were those who didn't consider the Irish white (seriously), probably the fact most were Catholic didn't help.

What happened to compassion? Where do these people get their beliefs? I would challenge them with this question...

When has a DACA recipient taken away your job or caused you to lose a night’s sleep? I bet they would look at me with a “deer in the headlights” expression.

Because they are brainwashed into thinking they are suffering from something they can’t quite put their finger on, but must be happening because Fox and other RW radio has convinced th it is true. Even though it isn’t.

This is what happens when the nation’s educational system is systematically trashed and is replaced by political propaganda via the airwaves.

I have no idea how we remedy this. Or if it is even possible.

Being brought here as minors, they can't be held for the "crimes" of their parents. THAT is against our laws. They say go back to their countries and go through the process. They're IN their country. Example, the woman here was brought over when she was 2....when was she supposed to go back "home" where she not only was still a child, but had no money, no home...going through the "process" would get them deported anyway, which is why we came up with DACA. This whole "unconstitutional" BS is the worst. Ask them which court found it unconstitutional, when....

because the programming is too strong. We will not win these people over so we must out number them and pass them by. Let them benefit from what we do, as they always do, and not pander to them, coddle them or otherwise give them too much voice. This 35 percent is always there, lets work as the other 65 percent to fix this shit and make this country a leader in the world of humanity.
