(41,831 posts)I visited Southern and northern Scotland a few years ago with my dad. It was an amazing trip, especially finding a Chinese Restaurant located in very far north, in Inverness.

(3,290 posts)thank you, thank you, thank you for posting. By the last listen, the sound system was really cranked up. I had heard Welsch singing before but had forgotten how pleasing it was. Most enjoyable. Now to youtube and search for more before I forget.

(2,065 posts)My given name is David, by the way. And I'm not Welsh, although I have been to Wales one summer during my college days. What was really strange was that I was on the train on one side of the Welsh border and everyone was speaking English. And then, as soon as we crossed over into Wales, it seemed like everyone suddenly started speaking Welsh - even those who had been speaking English on the English side of the border. And what a strange sound the Welsh language has - to me it sounded something like English on a tape recorder, being played backwards. How strange! I also hitchiked around Wales, and the only ones who stopped to give me a ride were English people traveling through Wales - no Welsh person would pick me up. It seemed like a very insular country.
