He was devoured by the shark while suspended in mid-air.

Watching Mitt Romney run for president is one of the best comedies I've ever seen. Can a reasonably moderate Republican find happiness in a party dominated by racists, misogynists, religious fanatics, Ayn Rand devotees, hate radio hosts, Wall Street crooks and spoiled billionaire children of Birch Society founders? Of course not. It simply underscores how far from the American political mainstream the GOP was wandered. Was there any such thing as an electable ticket that could have passed muster with Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter? Again, of course not.

Even the argument that Obama has flubbed the economy really shouldn't work for the Republicans. It would only have helped if they had allowed the President's proposals to be enacted, but they obstructed everything from economic stimulus to raising the debt ceiling and probably would have opposed a resolution praising Mom, the Flag and Apple Pie if the President invested any political capital in it. The continuing recession is part of a Republican scheme to defeat Obama and hand power to elitist billionaires who feel entitled to your house and still think there's a Communist under every bed. And just who do they think is a Communist? They think a Communist is anyone who would stop them from just taking your house.

We oppose this vision of the future espoused by the Koch brothers and their pet congressman, Paul Ryan. The only thing we have to worry about is that this is an election being held under the aegis of Citizens United, a gift to the corporate fascists from the Supreme Court that equalizes the natural disadvantage such elitists have in a real democracy.

Thus we are fighting against ALEC-sponsored acts of state legislatures that disenfranchise voters, bought and sold politicians in both parties and a corporate media providing a big megaphone and favorable coverage to corporate-blessed candidates. We need to organize and counter the effects of Citizens United. Are you reading this, MoveOn? Let's make sure those who will need voter IDs can get them and vote. Maybe we can buy a handgun and a permit for every poor voter in Texas, especially college students who can't use a student ID at the polls. (BTW, does one need to own a firearm in order to have a permit in Texas?) Let's make sure those people get to the polls on election day. Let's get it out that if you seeing or hearing an awful lot of advertising for one candidate or ballot proposition or against another, that candidate or that issue should be scrutinized. That candidate could be a friend of the Koch brothers and an enemy of the people and that issue could be something being pushed by crooked Wall Street bankers or industrial polluters.

We need to take action. If Mitt Romney is taking the presidential oath on January 20, 2013, it won't be because he won a free and fair election.
