It is sad to say that many US citizens do not have a true understanding of what a dictatorship actually is - especially for the people living under a dictator. We had better hope we never experience this first hand.

The establishment of an authoritarian presidency has been the goal of the Republican Party for over fifty years. Every one of their policies have been directed to achieve this. This fact is becoming more evident as they have used fascist tactics to attack the existing structure. These include attacks on the judiciary, freedom of the press, scapegoating, ultra nationalism, militarism, outright racism, persecution of critics, etc.

The Bush administration made a concerted effort to establish as doctrine the concept of what has been variously called the Unified Executive Theory. This would make the president's powers over every federal agency, including the congress, courts subservient to his dictates. It would absolutely contradict the founding fathers principle of the separation of powers upon which the constitution was based that would prevent the presidency becoming nothing more than monarchy in practice. This is exactly what they sought prevent and was reinforced by Washington demanding that he be addressed to as Mr. President and his limiting his presidency to two terms. There were powerful sentiments still existing among the populous, especially those who remained loyal to the English monarchy, to proclaim Washington as an emperor. Hopefully, the citizens will awaken in time to avert this impending tragedy. These are not unfouned exaggerations, but substanitiated by Tumps own testimony in which he stated that he wished that had the power of dictators, such as Kim Jong Un to dictate and enforce his will on the people. It is a valid explainaton of just why he is so enamored with every bloody dictator on the planet and rather than condemning them has expressed his admiration.

I hope that the epitaph will not be "While Americas slept they forfeited their children's future and left them in vitual enslavement to the oligarths."

These two men had witnessed public executions, starvation, imprisonment. One had lost his arm and leg trying to get food. In the countryside, many are begging in the streets for food.
