Lola was just a "demonic temptress."

And what a temptress she was!!! Wish I had a figure like that! And that red hair was real, I believe.

and this movie/musical was VERY risqué, and My Favorite Martian was very, very bad - which was what made me recall his role.

Gwen Verdun stayed that seductress!

Remember Don Ameche escorting her out to the dance floor in Cocoon? Movie magic!

Here's to Tab Hunter, too! Although he had that "iconic name" (like Rock Hudson) this is the film I remember him most for.

She works for the Devil. Her job is to seduce and "get" Joe (Tab Hunter), to do something (I forget exactly what).

So she is supposed to be somewhat hypnotic, somewhat evil, but irresistible to men. And she WAS considered a sexy dancer back in the day (not a sex goddess actress, but a great dancer who of course had a great bod). But yeah...it's a surreal kind of play. It was a Broadway play. It has to do with an old dude who had been a ball player and has a big regret. He makes a deal with the Devil to allow him to be young again (Tab Hunter) to deal with his regret. So I guess Gwen Verdon is supposed to get him to break the deal, so maybe the Devil can claim his soul?

Her name is Lola.

That's a famous song. Sarah Vaughn does a great rendition of it.

The problem for the devil was that this man also loved his wife, so he convinced the devil to give him an escape clause, so that Joe child go back to his own life up to a given date.

The purpose of Lola was to seduce Joe to either leave his wife or at least distract him long-enough to miss his cancellation window.

I'm surprised I remember as much as I do. It must have made an impression on me. Maybe that's where my love of musical movies & plays comes from! My mom took us to see all the big musical movies...Music Man, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Carousel, Mary Poppins. She had the albums, too.

fifty-ish years ago, there were only seven TV channels. One of the local channels, KHJ, had a program called Million Dollar Movie, which would run the same movie every evening, and twice on weekends, for a week.

Trust me, those weeks Damn Yankees was on, every kid in my junior high knew when to tune in to KHJ in time for Whatever Lola
Wants.

I guess the boys would like Lola. Her scanty outfit & sexy song.
