2. Texas may go blue,

but not any time soon. sad.

To give an example: I predict, fwiw, that despite the fact that so many Texans despise and dislike cruz, he will be re-elected to the Senate. Beto is the best hope for that to not happen, but the fact that cruz has an R next to his name will, no doubt, ensure his return to the U.S. Senate.
Personally, Beto O'Rourke has my vote.

3. This could be titled "Why Republicans steal elections."

When their future depends on appealing to minority voters and the majority of R voters are hardcore racists, they must steal to win.

they've been perfecting their stealing of elections for decades.

Remember Interstate Crosscheck, Karl "Turd Blossom" Rove, and Reagan and Nixon's treason?

Putin and Russia are just the latest iteration of repug cheating and we should be on the lookout for what they come up with next.

5. Texas Hispanic Voters Have Repeatedly Dashed Democratic Hopes

Texas Hispanic voters have repeatedly dashed Democrats’ hopes. Unlike other racial/ethnic groups, they tend not to vote.

I fear that the reason they don’t has less to do with Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression than with a crucial belief missing from their mindset—all too many simply don’t believe that voting is important..

I think this extremely unfortunate. If it had been otherwise, Chump could very well have lost Texas in 2016.

I am at my wit’s end.

I remember seeing somewhere (538?) that the same Demographic shift may help the Republicans hold the Senate if the distribution of the voters remains unchanged.

IT also assumes that Republicans won't come up with a way to strip certain subgroups of minority votes to maintain control.

New Mexico is one example. It used to be a swing state about 15 years ago and now is rocksold blue. Nevada is another one that is turning solid blue. Arizona used to be solid red and now is light red. Texas has also gone from sold red to light red. It's happening slowly. We just have to be patient. We also have to be careful that states like PA, Wisconsin etc. don't start turning red.
