Nobody will ever be the same as Aretha. She was a truly unique, beautiful woman with a voice that will never be matched.

Aretha was all about empowering women. In this song she does just that shouting out who has power in the relationship and turning freedom into ayou fucking fool.

I remember seeing an American idol girl sing this as a happy smiley song. I couldn't help thinking that she just didn't get it. Maybe I was wrong and the girl sis get it but didn't have the lived experience to carry it off.
Aretha did though and that is one of the things that made her great, she put her life and soul into every song.
