I don't believe this was a situation where a person should have been discriminated against based on this criminal background.

When I worked in municipal government, I was proud that we "banned the box"--the box you check if you've ever had a criminal conviction.

I would feel differently if this was a job where the person had unsupervised contact with or authority over minors.
