I am not questioning the sincerity, it just seems gimmicky. To me, a proposal should be intimate and without pressure.

it absolutely sucks in those cases. Or sometimes they'll say yes to be polite and then reject later in private.

It was when that one guy at the Emmys proposed to his girlfriend, as he accepted an award and was on stage.
