In honor of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, I reworked an old Irish folk song (and added a couple lines inspired by William Butler Yeats' "The Second Coming). Thank you for listening.

Thanks ET,
Any time someone makes a comparison of my music with Woody or Pete it is a great compliment.

Thank you for your kind comment. I see that you host the "Women's rights and issues" group. Important topic, and expecting it is generating a lot of heat and energy these days. Thank you for keeping that fire burning. - Tom

years ago Time magazine used to run a price with the oh-so-hopeful title "Is Feminism Dead?", to which my response was, and continues to be, "not so long as I draw breath!"

(13,225 posts)The Irish people in their struggle for independence from England long admired America and its ideals. I was in Ireland this summer and so many of the Irish people asked about Trump and what is happening to America. America is no longer a source of inspiration but rather a cautionary tale about the need to safeguard democracy.

(37 posts)Thank you for listening. Those old Irish folk songs inspire me. My song borrows heavily from "Erin's Green Shore", which speaks to the Irish struggle for independence. My experience with the international community is similar to yours, as they can't comprehend how we could let this happen, and how we are throwing away so much that the rest of the world could only hope to achieve. I am left with both sadness and a sense of defeat, and anger and a inspiration to make it better. Carry on!
