Political comedians are the heroes of the time: getting the news out in a palatable way in these dark times. I talk to a lot of people, especially millennials and politics are such a shunned topic. Apathy and intentionally ignorance are blights upon this country. People don't want to have anything to do with it or vote. We need all the help we can get.

The news these days would be even tougher to take without the late night comedians putting it in perspective by making fun of it. And I think Stephen Colbert is awesome, he doesn't just read what's written for him, but he's actually invested - there is no doubt that he really means every word he says and he is not a fan of Trump! I remember one night when news broke while they were taping the monologue - Trump announced he was going to North Korea - and Colbert stopped taping and ad libbed the rest of the segment.

And they do us another favor by informing those who don't watch much news - I remember when Jon Stewart commented that a new generation was getting their news from Comedy Central. I imagine it's even more prevalent now.

And I started posting these in early 2017 because we need all the humor we can get these days! Welcome to DU!
