I have no doubt Trump did it for financial gain, Russia did it to weaken NATO and to end sanctions. Stephen Cohen is an expert on US Russian relations and I appreciate his input but dragging HRC's name through the mud by claiming she was also talking to Russia for her own gain, goods on tRump is total rightwing taking points BS. I know we treated Russia like crap over the decades, not helping much with their transition to capitalism, which is a failed system also, but they declared cyber war on us, they are committing murders on expatriates, Russia doesn't play well with others.
